SPEED is a Haitian Miami based band, with a digital format. SPEED was founded by Alain Vaval whose stage name is Alano. His goal, along with the band, is to help bring kompa music to a higher level, and help further expose it to the world. SPEED is composed of four musicians : Alano is the band founder, lead singer, keyboard player (including keyboard sequencing, drums programming), composer/songwriter, and band leader. Jean Marie Vaval (stage name Ady), Alano’s father, is the guitar bass player and background vocals. Randy Vaval (stage name Rico), Alano’s younger brother, does background vocals and also is a rapper/song writer. As of now SPEED performs with different guitar players as giggers.
SPEED’s first album was released in 2003 which included 8 tracks. This album gave them exposure as the band performed at different local venues in Miami. The band had their album release party with SWEET MICKY at MARABOU CAFE on May 1st 2004. Soon after that, SPEED also traveled outside the country where they performed in St. Lucia Jazz festival to represent Haiti. At the time SPEED consisted of Alano and three other young musicians. For Alano and the other three musicians education was a priority; to pursue and further their professional careers the band split late 2004. Alano got his degree in Radiography and also studied Business Administration. In 2008, after the hiatus from music and completing his educational goals, Alano regrouped the band this time with his family members as his band mates. In 2008 SPEED released the single "VIN PRAN KONPA’W", along with an official music video. Soon after the release of "VIN PRAN KONPA’W", Alano de Speed re-entered the music scene performing at private parties. Since 2011, SPEED has performed on a consistent basis at various public events / local clubs in Florida, and performed at the 2014 Caribbean-American Heritage Festival in Miramar. Currently ALANO/ SPEED is working on the next studio album soon to be released.
